Our environment
We don’t have green initiatives; we are “green by design”
At ENPROTEC we are truly inspired by those who are in the business of mineral processing, as they make a significant contribution to the growth and prosperity of countries and people around the world. Helping them be better and greener is not only our major contribution to the world, but it is also the very reason for our existence.
The tailings contain powdery-fine heavy minerals that can cause acidic water or “red water” which can in turn lead to acid mine drainage. When acid mine drainage occurs, the red water seeps into the earth, dissolving our natural rock material and contaminating our underground and surface water.

On the other hand
The tailing dams take up a lot of space which can have a negative impact on the biodiversity of the animals, plants and natural organisms that form part of the natural habitat of the area. Secondly, the mining process uses high volumes of groundwater, which can place a further undue burden on one of our most critical natural resources.
Protecting these natural resources was the reason behind our founding
It becomes evident in our name Enprotec, which is short for “Environmental and Process Technologies”. As such, we first made our mark by supplying bespoke equipment and technology to help mineral processing plants reduce their environmental footprint.
We gradually evolved
Into a fully-fledged multidisciplinary engineering applications group that offers a turnkey solution to design, build, equip and run mineral processing plants that are better, greener, and kinder to Mother Nature. All equipped with bespoke “green technology” of which we are the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
Environmental “wins”

Reducing threats to our planet
Through engineer-led running of mineral processing plants, we not only ensure that the plants are run optimally, but we also help rehabilitate the surrounding natural habitat and eliminate the risk of tailings dams collapsing and causing a threat to our people and planet.

Recovery of process water
We help clients recover up to 60-80% of the natural groundwater used in their mining processes, saving an annual total of 6.7 Billion litres of water.
